Are you or someone you know between the ages of 12 and 15 and interested in the Fire and Rescue Service? The Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company has a Cadet Program which helps young people become involved in the Fire Service. Our Cadets attend a monthly meeting (the last Tuesday of each month) during which they participate in a ‘drill.’ Past topics have included hose line advancement, ladders, water supply, forcible entry, first aid, vehicle extrication, and search and rescue. Additionally, the Cadets have gone to take tours of the Maryland State Police Helicopter hanger and the 911 center.
Besides their meetings, the Cadets help with fundraisers which is a huge part of our 100% volunteer organization. The Cadets are in charge of the soda pitch game at the carnival each year. They are also invited to help with other work details and training exercises. Sound like something you or someone you know may be interested it? Feel free to stop by the station or email us at membership@walkersvillefire.com for more information!
